There is no way to top off such an amazing trip than what we experienced in the opera house. Even with the wonderful experience of that night, we had one last stop before our trip back to the states. Without planning it, we happened to be two blocks from Hillsong United Church in Waterloo. We weren’t dressed up for this, but we couldn’t pass it up considering it was so close to us. After dropping off our bags at the from desk, we walked down the street and saw the building. I have heard Hillsong songs for so long, but never knew they had churches attached to them.
We walked into a welcoming environment with huge golden balloons showing 2017. They had already begun to sing from the main room, so we slipped right in. We sang this song that still rings in my head titled “What a Beautiful Name.” The main chorus said:
What a beautiful Name it is
What a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
What a beautiful Name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
Jordan and I couldn’t stand in a place like Australia and forget Who walked with us through his program. It might sound naive, but I always hear of other countries spreading the name of Jesus, but had never experienced worship like this. I had been to Jamaica in high school, but our group organized the music and worship. This was the first time of being in another country and hearing them organize a worship based on Jesus. It truly was a beautiful sound to hear people from all over the world, in all different accents, singing the name of Jesus.
We left that service thinking of the knowledge of God and how he moves through His questions and through His people. It was such a time of reflection knowing that God alone brought us to where we were and would continue to walk alongside us to where we end up in the 2017 year. Oh what a beautiful name it is…the name of JESUS!
